- Mildred Stoots - JONESBOROUGH
Mrs. Mildred M. Guinn Stoots, 79, Jonesborough, TN, died Saturday,
January 24, 2009, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

- She was born in Washington County and was a daughter of the
late Frank and Mary Stover Guinn. She was also preceded in death
by a brother Charles Guinn and a brother in law Vestal Treadway;
father and mother-in-law William and Rose Stoots; sister-in-law,
Bertha Stoots; brothers-in-law Joe Stoots, Virgil Stoots, Marlin
(Caralee) Stoots and David Carey.

- She graduated from Lamar High School in 1947 and retired
from the Washington County School Food Service in 1991 after
over 30 years of employment. She was a lifelong and faithful
member of Cherokee Baptist Church. During her years of membership
she worked in the nursery, taught Sunday school, sang in the
choir and was active in the WMU.

- Mrs. Stoots was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother,
great grandmother and sister. She loved the Lord, family and
her flowers. She was a dear sweet kind person who if you had
the good fortune to meet her you went away with a blessing. Her
grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was known for her wonderful
home cooking and her love of quilt making.

- Surviving her husband of almost 60 years Leonard C. Stoots
of the home; 5 sons Bob Stoots and wife Pam, Bill Stoots, Benny
Stoots and wife Rita, Barry Stoots all of Jonesborough and Bryan
Stoots and wife Teresa of Knoxville; 3 daughters Beverly Thomas,
Barbara Gamble and husband Patton and Benita Ford and husband
Craig all of Jonesborough; 3 sisters Frances Treadway, Martha
Self both of Jonesborough and Mary Nell Greene and husband Carroll,
Texas; a brother Howard Guinn and wife Faye, Jonesborough; 12
grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren sisters-in-law Dorothy Guinn,
Jonesborough, Eva Carey, Virginia, Helen Stoots, Ruth Stoots,
Johnson City, brothers-in-law, Robert Stoots, Jonesborough, James
(Betty) Stoots, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews

- A celebration of the life of Mildred M. Guinn Stoots will
be held 11:00 am Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Cherokee Baptist
Church with Rev. Mike McCloud and Dr. E. Dwight Hobbs officiating.
Music will be provided by Jodie Harrod and Rosemary Lowe. Graveside
service will follow in Cherokee Baptist Cemetery.

- The family will receive friends at Dillow-Taylor Funeral
Home from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Monday, January 26, 2009. Pallbearers
will be son and sons in law Bob Stoots, Bill Stoots, Benny Stoots,
Bryan Stoots, Barry Stoots, Patton Gamble and Craig Ford. Honorary
pallbearers will be Keith Stoots, Ben Stoots, Zach Gamble, Bryce
Gamble, Aaron Ford, Cole Hurley, Brayden Stoots, Stephen Hurley
and Jonathan Huskins.
