Salsbury Steak
Good and inexpensive stick to your ribs dinner. Salsbury Steak and gravy, just what every guy likes. A country twist on this delectable main dish.
Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serves: 4
Steak Patties:
  • 1 lbs Ground Beef
  • ½ c Italian Bread Crumbs
  • 3 tblspn Worcestershire Sauce
  • Pepper to taste
  • No Salt!
  • 2 cubes Beef Bouillon
  • ½ c Hot Water
  • ½ c All Purpose Flour
  • 2 c Milk
  • Pepper to taste
  • No Salt!
  • Place the beef bouillon cubes in the ½ c Hot Water and set aside.
(This will give your cubes time to dissolve).
  • Mix beef, bread crumbs, worchestershire sauce and pepper into a medium mixing bowl.
  • Knead beef well to ensure all ingredients are mixed together well.
  • Form into ½ inch thick, oval shaped patties. You should get 4 patties out of this mix.
  • Spray a large skillet with Pam spray.
  • Over medium heat, cook the patties until they are thoroughly cooked.
  • Remove patties from the skillet, set aside and keep warm.
  • Add the Flour to the skillet with the patty drippings and brown slightly.
  • Pour in the milk and mix well over medium heat.
  • Add the beef bouillon water. Make sure all the cubes dissolved thoroughly.
  • Add pepper to taste. (DO NOT add salt, there's enough salt in the bouillon).
  • Use a fork to stir the gravy. Press the fork in any of the flour that clumped during the mixing process.
  • Allow gravy to bubble, but not boil. Continually stir until desired thickness.
  • Place steak patties onto individual dinner plates.
  • Using a gravy ladle, cover steak with 2 or 3 helpings of gravy.
  • Serve warm with your favorite veggies.
  • Consider adding parsley or basil to the salsbury steak mixture. About ½ cup of either herb will add an alternative flavor to the beef.
  • Consider adding ½ saute onion to the gravy.
    • Dice ½ small onion
    • Add a small pad of butter to the beef drippings, before placing the flour into the skillet.
    • Saute the onion until soft.
    • Add flour and continue the above steps for the gravy mix.
